You can remove a member from your workspace in one of two ways: by disabling their access temporarily, or by removing them from the workspace entirely. Both options are available on the Members tab on the Workspace Admin page.
You can get to the Workspace Admin page by clicking the link above, or by the button on your workspace home page or the link at the top of the sidebar:

This will take you to the Workspace Members settings page, which lists everyone who’s currently in (or invited to) your workspace:

Option 1: Disabling a Member
To temporarily disable a member's access, find their row in the list and change the dropdown in the Workspace Role column from Active Member to Disabled.

A disabled member won't be able to sign in to your workspace, but they remain on your members list and their account is preserved. You can restore their access at any time by changing the dropdown back to Active Member.
This is the right option when:
- A member is taking a leave of absence and you want to pause their access without removing them.
- You want to suspend a member's access while you discuss something with them.
- You suspect a member's account may have been compromised and want to lock it down while you investigate.
A note on billing
Disabling a member doesn't free up a seat on a per-seat subscription, so they'll continue to count towards your seat allocation and bill. If you need to free up a seat, use Option 2 below instead.
Option 2: Removing a Member
To permanently remove a member from your workspace, find their row in the list and click the X button on the right-hand side. You may need to scroll the table to the right to see it.

Removing a member from your workspace:
- Removes them from your members list and reduces your bill by one seat (if you're on a per-seat subscription).
- Leaves intact any surveys and other data they contributed to your workspace.
- Does not delete their Cartographer account — they will still be able to sign in to Cartographer, they just won't be able to access your workspace any more.
If you later decide to give the person access again, you'll need to send them a new email invitation. See Inviting New Workspace Members for instructions.
