This is an optional shortcut for power users. You don't need the Omnibar to use Cartographer β everything it does is also available through the normal menus. It's simply a faster way to move around the app if you're comfortable using the keyboard.
The Omnibar is a quick way to search and jump around Cartographer without clicking through menus. Press a single keyboard shortcut, start typing, and go straight to the workspace, project, survey, or person you're looking for.
Opening the Omnibar
Press Cmd + K (on a Mac) or Ctrl + K (on Windows or Linux) from anywhere in the web app. A search box appears with the placeholder Search workspaces, projects, membersβ¦. Press Esc to close it again.

What You Can Do
Start typing and the Omnibar shows matching results grouped into sections. Depending on what you have access to, you can:
- Jump to a project in your current workspace.
- Switch workspaces β the list shows which one you're currently in.
- Record a new survey β pick a survey type to start a fresh survey.
- View surveys and maps within a project.
- Find a workspace member by name or email.
- Reach your account options β My Account, Help, and Sign Out.
Some results have a βΊ arrow on the right. That means you can drill into them for more options β for example, opening a project to see its surveys and maps.
Getting Around with the Keyboard
The Omnibar is built to be used without the mouse:
- Up / Down arrows β move through the results.
- Enter β open the highlighted result.
- Right arrow or Tab β drill into a result that has a βΊ arrow.
- Left arrow or Backspace (when the search box is empty) β go back up a level.
- Esc β go back a level, or close the Omnibar.
If nothing matches what you've typed, you'll see No matches. β just adjust your search and try again.
