Browsing Surveys in the App

The survey list shows the surveys recorded in a project so far. To get to it, tap the project on the home screen, then the kind of survey, for example Riverfly Surveys.

Finding a Survey#

Surveys are listed newest first. Scroll down and the app loads more as you go. Each row shows the survey's description, then who recorded it, their team, its status and when it was recorded.

Pull down on the list to check our servers for new surveys. This needs mobile signal or wifi, and Work Offline switched off.

Searching and Filtering#

The search box and the filter row at the top of the list narrow down what's shown. They work on the surveys the app already knows about, so you can use them while working offline.

  • Search. Type in the Search descriptions and surveyors box. The list shows only surveys whose description or surveyor name contains what you typed. Tap the cross to clear it.
  • Whose surveys. The row under the search box shows All surveys to start with. Tap Select and choose My surveys to see only the surveys you recorded, or Surveys from my teams to see those recorded by anyone in the teams you belong to.
  • Both at once. The search and the filter combine, so My surveys plus a search shows only your surveys that match.

The filter goes back to All surveys each time you open the list.

What the Icons Mean#

The icon at the right of each row tells you where the survey is:

IconMeaning
An arrowThe survey is on your device. You can open it even without mobile signal.
A cloud with a down arrowThe survey is on our servers but not on your device yet. Tap it to download it.
A crossed-out cloudThe survey is on our servers but can't be downloaded right now, because Work Offline is on or you have no mobile signal.
A spinnerThe survey is being uploaded or downloaded at the moment.
A warning iconThe survey was deleted or moved on the server while you had changes waiting (see A Survey Says It Was Deleted or Moved on the Server).

Surveys in bold haven't been uploaded to our servers yet (see Checking Uploads and Sync Status).

Opening a Survey#

Tap a survey to open it. The first time you open one that isn't on your device, the app downloads it, which needs mobile signal. After that it stays on your device, so open any surveys you'll need in the field while you're still on wifi. If you tap a survey while working offline, the app says Please go online to download this survey to your device.

To record a new survey, tap Add (see Recording a Survey in the App). To copy or delete a survey, swipe its row (see Copying and Deleting Surveys in the App).

If a Survey Is Missing#

  • It may have been added recently. Pull down to refresh.
  • Check the filter row: My surveys and Surveys from my teams hide other people's surveys.
  • If it was recorded on another device, it may not have been uploaded from there yet.
  • It may have been deleted on the web site. Surveys deleted there disappear from the app the next time it refreshes.
