Protect your account with Multi-Factor Authentication — plus new mobile app updates

· All updates

We've just shipped a batch of updates, headlined by a feature we're really pleased about: Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA).

🔐 Multi-Factor Authentication is here

MFA adds a second step when you sign in, on top of your password. Even if someone gets hold of your password, they can't get into your account without your second factor. We strongly recommend turning it on.

You can choose one of two methods:

  • Email codes — we email a one-time six-digit code to your sign-in address each time you sign in.
  • Authenticator app — an app on your phone (1Password, Authy, Google Authenticator, and similar) generates a code that changes every few seconds. This is the more secure option, since it doesn't depend on access to your email.

Setting it up takes a couple of minutes. Head to the My Account page in the web app, scroll to the Multi Factor Authentication section, and pick your method. Full step-by-step instructions are in our MFA help guide.

⚠️ Using the mobile app? If you turn on MFA, you'll need mobile app version 1.4.0 or later to sign in. Earlier versions can't sign in once MFA is enabled. If you'd rather not enable MFA yet, older app versions will keep working as normal — though you'll be prompted to upgrade soon.
