If someone already has access to your project or team but their requirements have changed, you don't need to send them a new invitation to change what they can do. You can update an existing member's role directly, and the change takes effect immediately.
Changing a Team Member's Role
This is the option to use if, for example, you want to promote a Team Surveyor to Team Coordinator so they can manage their own team day-to-day.
- Go to the Team Settings page for the relevant team (see Getting to the Team Settings Page), then click the Members tab.
- Find the member's row in the list of current team members.
- Use the Role dropdown in their row to select their new role.
- The change is saved immediately — no invitation or confirmation email is sent, and the member doesn't need to do anything.
Changing a Project Member's Role
The same applies at the project level: go to the Project Settings page (see Getting to the Project Settings Page), click the Members tab, and use the Role dropdown next to the member's name.
A person only has one role per project and one role per team — see Roles and Permissions for what each one can do. Changing someone's role replaces their previous role rather than adding to it. Since each role includes everything the ones below it can do, promoting someone (e.g. from Team Surveyor to Team Coordinator) never takes anything away — it just adds more.
Only Project Coordinators, Team Coordinators (for their own team), and Workspace Admins/Owners can change other members' roles. If you don't see a Role dropdown, or the Members tab isn't available to you, you'll need to ask someone with one of those roles to make the change for you.
